Some newer distributions put their / partition inside of squashfs files within subdirectories, so make sure you're mounting all necessary partitions before attempting rsync.

To mount a partition and transfer data from one location to another in an efficient manner:

1. Open terminal or command prompt.

2. Type 'sudo umount /dev/sdX' (change sdX with the actual device name of your drive).

3. Once it's unmounted, type 'rsyslog -aRXHv /mnt/destination/ .'

After completing these steps and ensuring that all necessary partitions are correctly mounted and configured, you should be able to successfully mount a partition as bootable for dual-booting purposes.
